history

It was founded in 1951 in Gütersloh (Westphalia) by Erich Klessmann (1908–2000). From the company TEXTIMA IMA was formed by concentrating on the production of devices for the wood industry. The plant in Lübbecke was initially only established as a mechanical manufacturing company. The cooperation with IMA Meinert (founded in 1952 in Porta Westfalica) began in 1989. In 1991, due to the globalization of the markets, the foundation of worldwide sales companies began.

In 1999 IMA merged with Homag Maschinenbau AG to form Lignum Technologie AG. Lignum Technologie AG was finally renamed to today's Homag Group AG in 2004 .

In November 2005, IMA was taken over by Adcuram Industriekapital AG.

In 2015, IMA was bought by Schelling Anlagenbau GmbH in Schwarzach (Vorarlberg) , Austria, whereupon the two companies merged to form the IMA Schelling Group GmbH.

In order to create a uniform brand identity, IMA and Schelling have been operating under uniform company names since September 2019: IMA Klessmann GmbH has been called IMA Schelling Deutschland GmbH and Schelling Anlagenbau GmbH has the company name IMA Schelling Austria GmbH.
