The Internationale Rasse-Jagd-Arbeitsundeverband eV (IRJGV) is the second largest umbrella organization in the field of canine in Germany with over 50,000 members and over 300 local groups. It is therefore much smaller than the Association for the German Dog Industry (VDH). The European umbrella organization is the European Dog Sports Union (EHU).

history

In 1959 some members of the German Dachshund Club left the association after disputes and founded the International Dachshund Club Gergweis eV At the end of 1969, under the same management, the International Rasse-Hunting-Working Dog Association eV (IRJGV) emerged to represent the interests of owners of all dog breeds to be able to. Both associations exist to this day and are linked by board memberships in both associations, a joint office at the association's headquarters and a joint website.

organization structure

The Internationale Dachshundclub Gergweis eV and the Internationale Rasse-Jagd-Arbeitshund-Verband eV "practically represent an organization", which currently has around 50,000 members nationwide, amalgamated in 34 regional groups, which consist of more than 300 local groups. The regional groups, like the local groups affiliated with them, are partly registered associations . The respective national groups are listed on the central website of the IRJGV.

Objectives

The association has been training dogs to become socially compatible companion dogs since 1982. The training of guard dogs has taken a back seat to activities like agility and flyball .

Pedigree dog breeding also plays an important role in the International Breed Hunting Working Dog Association; a stud book is kept for all dog breeds. The association advocates “breeding with healthy dogs with a solid character” and distances itself from “breeding rarities / abnormalities”. Since the International Race-Hunting-Working Dog Association is not a member of the Association for the German Canine Industry (VDH) or the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), members of the Association and its groups cannot take their dogs through the Association in major national and international exhibitions. However, the International Breed Hunting Working Dog Association and the European Canine Sport Union (EHU) organize their own national and international dog shows.
