The iSi Group or ISI Group is an Austrian company for pressurized gas containers and the world market leader in this branch . The company, which was founded in Vienna in 1865 , has also been producing in the USA for 20 years , has sales offices around the world and sells its products in over 80 countries.

The product range extends from the preparation of soda water , coffee and whipped cream to heat protection, fire extinguishers , medical technology, sports equipment and airbags to inflatable life rafts , evacuation equipment and escape slides for aircraft.

Three groups of companies

Today's iSi-Group consists of the three business areas Culinary (kitchen supplies etc.), Components (including rescue equipment) and Automotive (vehicle and other airbags).

Within each, innovation occurs through development and research groups. The specialization and internationalization is guaranteed by subsidiaries.

Company history

The origin of the group of companies can be found in a family business in the early 19th century, when Carl Pochtler AG manufactured the first soda water machines in Vienna . Karl Fischer-Pochtler GmbH founded in 1865 . developed further pressurized gas technology for kitchen and technical applications, which ultimately resulted in the modern culinary business area with CO 2 capsules for soda water production and N 2 O capsules for the production of cream, soups , sauces and foams.

The family tradition has continued to this day. The board member Christian C. Pochtler is a direct descendant of the founding family Fischer-Pochtler. On the one hand, he expanded the product range to include fire extinguishers, vehicle airbags and various rescue equipment; on the other hand, environmentally friendly production methods were introduced and previously common compressed gases were replaced by harmless helium .

After the company was dissolved in 1940 due to the war, home siphons and pressure capsules were again manufactured from 1950 . When Alfred Fischer-Pochtler died in 1954, his daughter Marietta Fischer-Pochtler and her husband Hannes took over the business.

In 1964 the "Karl Fischer-Pochtler GmbH" took over the "Heimsyphon Karl Hinz und Co. GmbH" founded in 1959. The company was renamed "iSi Metallwarenfabrik Ges.mbH", from which the current brand name and logo originate. In 1964 the first disposable capsules for soda water and whipped cream came onto the Austrian market, followed by export to Europe and overseas. In 1975 the company moved from the 7th to the 21st district of Floridsdorf in Vienna , where the headquarters of the entire iSi Group is still located today. In 1978 Christian Pochtler founded the "iSi Siphon of America Inc.", today's " iSi North America Inc. " When he became the sole owner in 1984, he founded the "Fischer-Pochtler Holding GmbH", today Pochtler Industrieholding AG .
