ISO 690

The ISO 690 is an ISO standard that describes how different types of information are referenced uniformly in documents in print or other forms. The current third edition is from June 2010 and is entitled Information and documentation - Guidelines for bibliographic references and citations to information resources . The first edition was published in 1975, the second in 1987. ISO 690 Part 2 Information and documentation - bibliographic references - part 2: Electronic documents and parts thereof was published in November 1997, and this was incorporated into the third edition.

In October 2013, DIN ISO 690: 2013-10 "Information and documentation - Guidelines for title information and citation of information resources (ISO 690: 2010)" was published, replacing DIN 1505-2 in Germany .
