ISRN
ISRN is the abbreviation for International Standard Technical Report Number , an international identification system for technical reports. These are documents in both printed and electronic form.
The system is described in the international standard ISO 10444: 1994. This standard was revoked in 2007.
An ISRN is an alphanumeric code with a maximum of 36 characters. The "ISRN" is always placed in front, followed by a unique identification number.
Examples:
- ISRN UIUCLIS - 2001/9 + EARCH (ISRN is a report from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, UIUC).
- ISRN INRIA / RR - 4855 - FR + ENG (ISRN is a report by the French research institute Institut national de recherche en informatique et en automatique , INRIA).

For other forms of publication, such as B. periodicals or notated musical works, there are separate numbering systems:
- ISAN - International Standard Audiovisual Number
- ISBN - International Standard Book Number
- ISMN - International Standard Music Number (for printed and digitized music notations)
- ISRC - The International Standard Recording Code
- ISSN - Information and documentation - International Standard Serial Number / International Standard Serial Number (for periodicals)
- ISTC - International Standard Text Code
- ISWC - International Standard Musical Work Code
