Foundation and type of company

In 1969 the state of Berlin began to build up a comprehensive communication network in the authorities. In the same year the State Office for Electronic Data Processing (LED) was founded. In 1991 the two data centers in Berlin (East) and Berlin (West) merged to form a new service provider. The LED was renamed the State Office for Information Technology (LIT).

In 1998, the office went into operation under Section 26 of the State Budget Code (LHO) with the designation State Office for Information Technology (LIT). Since January 1, 2005, the former state company for information technology has been an institution under public law with the new name IT Service Center Berlin (ITDZ Berlin).

Important procedures

The facility operates the network structure and the servers for the POLIKS procedure of the Berlin police and for the electronic processing of loans for the Association of Berlin Public Libraries .

After the Berlin-wide authority dial-in "900-BerlinTelefon", a service center for the Berlin administration, was successfully introduced, Berlin became a model region for the nationwide citizen service number 115 . The authority number has been offered in regular operation since 2011. This service center is operated by the ITDZ Berlin.

Others

Since June 11, 2010 the ITDZ Berlin has been recognized as a family-conscious company. The certificate was awarded by the non-profit Hertie Foundation as part of the "berufundfamilie" audit at ITDZ Berlin. On February 24, 2012, the extension building with the Service Center 115, data center and printing center on the premises on Berliner Straße was opened by Interior Senator Frank Henkel .
