I Declare War is an American deathcore band from Seattle , Washington that was formed in 2005.

history

The band was formed in 2005. The band name had its roots in hip-hop , as Jay-Z on the one hand named a tour that way and on the other hand Pacewon had released a phonogram with this name. After several changes in the line-up, appearances in the USA followed. In 2006 the debut album What You Deserve was released as a self- release . During a tour in 2007, the group came in contact with the band Whitechapel and was close friends with them from then on. In the same year the second album Admist the Bloodshed was released on Compton Records . Whitechapels Alex Wade finally convinced the band two years later to sign a contract with Artery Recordings , which at the time was still under construction. This label released the album Malevolence in 2010 . A year later, a self-titled album followed on the same label. The group then consisted of bassist Brent Eaton, drummer Ryan Cox, guitarists Chris Fugate and Evan Hughes, and singer Jamie Hanks. Hanks was then heard as the new singer.

style

According to guitarist Evan Hughes, the songs are often about government, religion and the self-inflicted decline of humanity. According to ultimate-guitar.com , the tape contained deathcore as well as death metal elements. The vocals are guttural and typical of Death Metal. In addition, breakdowns typical of Deathcore were processed in the songs .
