Gérard Louis-Dreyfus (born June 21, 1932 in Paris - † September 16, 2016 ) was a French - American entrepreneur .

Life

His grandfather was Léopold Louis-Dreyfus , who founded the Louis Dreyfus Group in 1851. His father was Pierre Louis-Dreyfus . Louis-Dreyfus grew up in France and studied law at Duke Law School . He took over the management of the Louis Dreyfus Group and later became a US citizen.

According to the US Forbes Magazine , Louis-Dreyfus was one of the richest French people and is listed in The World's Billionaires .

Private

Louis-Dreyfus was married to Judith LeFever from 1959 to 1962. From this marriage, the future actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus emerged in 1961 . In his second marriage, he was married to Phyllis B. Louis-Dreyfus from 1965. From this marriage two more daughters were born, who were born in 1968 and 1974.
