content

I am from Upper Austria is written in 2/4 time as a marching song and consists of two stanzas, a (refrain) yodel and an instrumental trio. At the beginning the stanza I am from Upper Austria, from a beautiful country. It is rich in forests and meadows, and sung known everywhere , the end is the popular hymn to Linz: I'm just out of the middle, from Salzburg and from Vienna. I'm just out of the middle, a resche Linzerin and then a yodeler .

history

Annemarie Leitner, who was a gifted yodeler herself, composed the song for the Linz boys, with whom she performed as a singer and yodeler herself. It is also remarkable, a novelty for the time it was made, that not only one woman, namely Leitner herself, performed successfully as a singer in a brass band, but also that the song ended with ... a resche Linzerin for and by a woman as an interpreter originated.

The song turned out to be a great success. It appeared on numerous LPs and MCs by various performers and thus became an evergreen and folk song in Upper Austria .

The melody was also used in the later Neumarkter Turnermarsch by the Czech composer Karel Bělohoubek and provided with a text by Christian Schöberl.
