Iain Cochrane, 15th Earl of Dundonald

Iain Alexander Douglas Blair Cochrane, 15th Earl of Dundonald (born February 17, 1961 ) is a British peer and politician of the Conservative Party .

life and career

Cochrane was born in February 1961 to Iain Cochrane, 14th Earl of Dundonald (1918-1986) and Aphra Farquhar Fetherstonhaugh († 1972). He commonly uses his middle name Douglas. Cochrane attended Wellington College in Wellington , Berkshire and studied at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester . He was a director of Duneth Securities Ltd. He lives in Beacon Hall in Benenden .

Membership in the House of Lords

On the death of his father in 1986, Cochrane inherited the title of Earl of Dundonald and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . According to Hansard, he never spoke up there.

During the 1997/1998 session he was present on 97 days. Through the House of Lords Act 1999 he lost his seat. He did not run for one of the remaining seats. It is recorded in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.
