Ib Eisner

Ib Eisner (born May 19, 1925 in Copenhagen , † April 7, 2003 in Frederiksberg ) was a Danish artist.

He began his artistic career in 1945 at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, where he studied with Professors Aksel Jørgensen, Kræsten Iversen and Olaf Rude.

Eisner combined pure, mostly unmixed colors with quick brushstrokes. They transform his paintings into vibrating and dynamic surfaces, which in all their virtuoso painting style nevertheless always remain committed to the object. He worked more and more in series of images to get to the bottom of the nuances of changing light moods and seasons. In order to capture this impression immediately, he left his studio with the easel and painted in nature. Throughout his life he chose motifs from his environment, his everyday life, which made him a central chronicler of Danish society in the second half of the 20th century.

Eisner's interest in the traditional Danish forest and wildlife park “Dyrehaven” was particularly pronounced . This offered him a diverse repertoire of motifs and was the linchpin of his life and his artistic work. In his home country he became a recognized artist in Denmark , primarily because of his cheerful views from the traditional amusement parks “Tivoli” and “Bakken” . Representations of the "Sankt Hans Feuer" and the island of Bornholm are further central themes that he captured in his art. In addition to depictions of landscapes and figures, still lifes were a fixture in Eisner's painting.

Ib Eisner made a name for himself during his lifetime through numerous exhibitions, especially in the Scandinavian region. Most recently he was honored in autumn 2004 with a retrospective in Korsør / Denmark. But his work has also been shown internationally, including in Great Britain and Japan .
