Dyrehavsbakken [ ˈdyːʀəhɑu̯sbɑgən ] ( Danish: dyrehave "zoo", bakke "hill", short form: Bakken ) is an amusement park in the nature park Jægersborg Dyrehave on the outskirts of the Danish capital Copenhagen .

The park opened in 1583 with the discovery of a natural spring , making it the oldest existing theme park in the world. Over time, due to the large influx of visitors, more and more business people settled here. Today Bakken is characterized by a mixture of classic and modern rides . One of the attractions is the slide, one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in Europe, which went into operation in 1932 . Until 2010, the railway also had the special feature that it was accompanied by a brakeman.

Entry to the park is free, but each ride requires a single price. With around 2.7 million visitors annually, Bakken takes second place in Danish visitor popularity, just behind Tivoli Copenhagen . Among the locals, the park is a meeting place for young and old, not least because of the restaurants that are cheap by Danish standards.
