Ibn Yaʿīsh
Muwaffaq ad-Dīn Abū l-Baqāʾ Yaʿīsch ibn ʿAlī ibn Yaʿīsch ( Arabic موفق الدين أبو البقاء يعيش بن علي بن يعيش, DMG Muwaffaq ad-Dīn Abū l-Baqāʾ Yaʿīš b. ʿAlī b. Yaʿīš ; * September 28, 1158 in Aleppo ; † October 18, 1245 ibid), known as Ibn Yaʿīsch /ابن يعيش / Ibn Yaʿīš and as Ibn as-Sāniʿ /ابن الصانع / Ibn aṣ-Ṣāniʿ , was an Arabic grammarian .
Ibn Yaʿīsch studied grammar and hadith in Aleppo, Mosul and Damascus , was a follower of Sībawaih and belonged to the grammatical school of Basra. In Aleppo he taught literature and grammar himself until his death . His students included Ibn Challikan and Ibn Mālik . Ibn Yaʿīsch is particularly known for his commentary on az-Zamachscharīs al-Mufassal .
