ICOM KK ( Japanese ア イ コ ム 株式会社 , Aikomu kabushiki-gaisha ) is a Japanese company based in Osaka that builds and develops radio equipment for amateur radio , maritime radio , commercial radio and aeronautical radio .
Origins
The origins of the company go back to the company Inoue Denki Seisakusho ( 井上 電機 製作 所 ) founded in 1954 by the Japanese Tokuzō Inoue ( 井上 徳 造 , Inoue Tokuzō ; amateur radio call sign: JA3FA ).
Their company name was changed in 1964, the company name (company) has been ICOM ( I noue COM munications).
expansion
In 1976 the Düsseldorf branch was founded as the first foreign branch. The US branch, on the other hand, was only founded in 1979. Icom manufactures and sells amateur, marine, aeronautical and professional radio equipment. There is also a range of communication receivers for commercial use. The company radio series is supplemented by devices for BOS radio. ICOM has been producing the so-called D-STAR system since 2002 . D-STAR stands for a proprietary method of digital information transmission in amateur radio.
As of 2008, a comparable process will also be launched on the market for private radio , based on the NXDN standard, marketed by Icom under the name IDAS.
ICOM stands next to Yaesu Musen , Alinco , Kenwood u. a. at the forefront of Japanese amateur radio manufacturers in price and quality .
