Icze

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Icze , or half, was a Hungarian measure of volume for liquids and dry goods. It was also known as the Hungarian half bottle.

For the Cseber (Tseber) in Debrecen , the bucket , one reckoned 100 on the large (Nagy Cseber) and 50 Icze on the small Cseber (Kis Cseber).

  • 1 barrel (Tokay wine barrel) = 176 Icze = 7395.25 Parisian cubic inches = 146 9/16 liters
  • 1 Vödör = 52 Icze = 2184.975 Parisian cubic inches = 43.3459 liters also 2229.406 Parisian cubic inches = 44.2233 liters (calculated from the 100-half value)
