Ida Sury
Ida Sury (later Ida Odermatt-Sury ; born March 5, 1911 in Zurich ; † April 19, 2004 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss author of adventure stories for children and young people as well as non-fiction books on the subject of alcoholism .
Life
After her training in the canton of Zurich, Ida Sury joined the SAS (Swiss Abstinence Secretariat, today Stiftung Sucht Schweiz ) in Lausanne in 1929 , where she worked as a secretary until she retired in 1973. She carried out public relations work for the organization by, among other things, publishing murals for schools, was the editor of the French-language magazine for children and young people, Walter Tell , and answered inquiries from teachers and students about alcoholism. Sury married Joseph Odermatt, who also worked for the SAS.
plant
Most of Ida Sury's stories are about young people who have to cope with a dangerous situation on their own. In Tommy and the Burglars , three friends walk away from their class on a school trip. Restrained by a storm, they have to spend the night outdoors and surprise two intruders with their prey. In SOS im Drachenloch two boys are cut off from the outside world in a cave. In Piper in Not , a youngster has to make an emergency landing in a small plane in a remote area.
