Iduna (association)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Iduna was an association of conservative Catholic writers from Vienna and existed between 1891 and 1904. This association was brought into being by Johann Fercher von Steinwand , who brought this association into being as a counterpoint against naturalism and young Vienna .

The "Iduna - magazine for poetry and criticism" was launched as a club magazine.

When in 1896 the writer Richard Kralik left the Iduna together with some loyal followers to join the Association of Catholic Writers of Austria , this was actually the beginning of the end of this covenant. When another group left the Iduna in 1904 to join the Vienna Writers' Cooperative , the Iduna was dissolved.
