The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Sagrado Corazón ( Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart ), better known as Parroquia de Punta Carretas , is a church in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .

Originally belonging to the Capuchin Order , the church in the Montevidean Barrio Punta Carretas is located on the corner of José Ellauri and Solano García . The neo-Romanesque building, designed by the architect Elzeario Boix , was built from 1917 and consecrated in 1927 . The Uruguayan Catholic Women’s Union and the poet Juan Zorrilla de San Martín were particularly committed to the construction; he gave a speech at the inauguration ceremony.

The church is equipped with a Walcker organ from 1954 . Since 1997 the church has been classified as a Bien de Interés Municipal , a building of particular urban interest.
