Ig. Eisler & Comp. was a K. uk military canning factory in Inzersdorf near Vienna during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy .

history

The kuk military canning factory Ig. Eisler & Co. zu Inzersdorf bei Wien, founded in 1873, was founded by the current owners on Reality No. 13, Ortsstraße No. 22, opposite the parish church of Inzersdorf, according to the approval of the kk district authority of Sechshaus on September 5, 1877, line 23855 , newly built and expanded. The factory covers an area of 17,500 m², has six steam boilers with a total of 350 m² heating surface and three steam engines. Shortly thereafter, the company was awarded the privilege of using the designation kk exclusively for the privileged canned and soup extract factory Ig. Eisler & Comp. respectively.

Meat, vegetable, soup and coffee cans were made for the Austro-Hungarian army. The extensive work rooms and factory facilities, which meet all hygienic requirements, made it possible, in the event of mobilization, to process 500 fattened steers daily into canned meat in tin cans.

The factory was only in operation for a few weeks a year to meet the minor peace demand for canned food, whereas most fresh vegetables, such as asparagus, green peas, beans, mushrooms, etc., were preserved partly in tin cans and partly as dried vegetables. This branch of production enabled agriculture to utilize its products more effectively.

The canned food serving as travel, hunting, tourist and ship provisions was also produced in abundance.

The factory owners at that time were Ignaz von Eisler, Sigmund von Eisler, Imperial and Royal Kommerzialrath , and Josef von Eisler.

At the turn of the century, the company became the property of the President of Anglobank Ltd. London-Vienna and subsequently became part of Inzersdorfer Nahrungsmittelwerke Ges. Mb H.
