Igor Pucker

Igor Hartwig Michael Pucker (born January 19, 1957 in Wolfsberg (Carinthia) ) has been Head of Department 14 Art and Culture at the Office of the Carinthian State Government since July 3, 2019. Until then, Igor Pucker was a museum director, exhibition curator and head of scientific projects in the fields of history, literature, visual arts and film in Carinthia .

Pucker headed Carinthian state exhibitions and developed concepts for large-scale exhibitions and museums, worked on leading cultural projects in the state of Carinthia, headed the area of administrative innovation and training planning and was a consultant for personnel and education in the office of Governor Peter Kaiser.

On January 1, 2017, Pucker was appointed Managing Director of the Carinthian State Museum Rudolfinum in Klagenfurt. Until he took over the new function as head of the cultural department, he was responsible for the realization of the new collection and science center of the State Museum and the project development of the general renovation of the main building of the State Museum Rudolfinum in Klagenfurt.

Pucker is married and has three children.

Life

Pucker studied German, history, journalism and communication science at the University of Salzburg (Mag.phil.) He attended the business faculty at the Danube University Krems . There he took part in the MBA program at the Finance & Public Management Center. Pucker completed further training in the areas of management, business administration, project management, cultural journalism and cultural public relations.

1981 to 1992 Pucker was cultural manager in the Benedictine monastery St. Paul in Lavanttal, directed the Carinthian state exhibition Treasury Carinthia - 900 years Benedictine monastery St. Paul (1991) and developed the monastery museums into an exhibition center.

After working as an independent consultant from 1993 to 1994, he took over the management of the Carinthian State Exhibition Ferlach 1997 ( all hunting ... a cultural history ) and the development of the State Exhibition Friesach 2001 ( scene of the Middle Ages ).

As an employee of the scientific service at the office of the Carinthian provincial government, he was involved in key cultural projects in the state (including art of encounter, project group culture - application for the 2008 Olympic Winter Games, Carinthia development model).

From 2001 to 2004, Pucker developed educational programs for management & culture, management & health, event management / major events and marketing for the Carinthian Administration Academy. In 2002 he directed the exhibition In the Sign of the Lion for the cultural department of the city of Wolfsberg . Wolfsberg - Bamberg - Herzogenaurach in Wolfsberg Castle.

From 2005 to 2013, Pucker was head of the administrative innovation and training planning subdivision in the State Office's Competence Center, with a focus on personnel development, quality management and administrative reform. He was a member of the Personnel Development Forum of the Austrian Federal States and the Federal Criminal Police Office and the forum for administrative innovators of the Austrian Federal States and the Federal Criminal Police Office.

From 2008 to 2009 Pucker developed the museum concept and implemented the museum in the Lavanthaus in Wolfsberg (opening in November 2009), of which he has been director since then. In addition to the permanent exhibition on the space-human continuum of the Lavanttal region, special exhibitions on history, art and the region (including 2013 Lagerstadt Wolfsberg, 2016 Viticulture in Lavanttal ) are important attractions.

In January 2014 Pucker became a consultant for human resources and education and has been a consultant for education in the office of Governor Peter Kaiser since 2015.

Since January 1, 2017, Pucker has been managing director of the Carinthian State Museum Rudolfinum, which also includes the Carinthian Open-Air Museum Maria Saal, Roman Museum Teurnia, Archaeological Park Magdalensberg, Carinthian Botanical Center, Wappensaal in Landhaus Klagenfurt and is preparing the extensive renovation of the main building in Klagenfurt. Since September 2016 he has been appointed interim head and coordinator there; the latter in order to work off upcoming tasks that the Court of Auditors thought had arisen.

On July 3, 2019, Pucker was appointed head of Department 14 Art and Culture at the Office of the Carinthian Provincial Government.
