The Igreja de Santa Catarina is the Catholic parish church of the former municipality of Santa Catarina in the Portuguese capital Lisbon .

history

A first Katharinenkirche was built on the Alto de Santa Catarina by order of Queen Katharina . This church was badly damaged in the 1755 earthquake. After restoration, services were held again from 1757. In 1835 it was destroyed in a fire.

Since then, the church of the recently abolished Convento dos Religiosos de São Paulo da Serra de Ossa on Calçada do Combro has served as the new Katharinenkirche .

It has been classified as a Monumento Nacional since 1918 .
