The Ihler Meer is an artificially created swimming lake with an area of 3.5 hectares . It is located in Ihlowerfehn , a district of the municipality of Ihlow in East Frisia , between the cities of Emden and Aurich .
The Ihler Meer was artificially created in the 1980s with shallow water and deep water zones and supplied with water via deep wells. At the beginning of the 1990s it was expanded into the Ihler Meer leisure facility with the help of EU funding programs and has since provided space for children and adults who want to swim and relax.
