The Ikarus P-453 was a Yugoslav tailless experimental aircraft .

history

The machine was intended as a jet-powered experimental aircraft in 1953. The plane was unique because of its wing shape. The inner wing ran with a negative V-position and a strong forward sweep to the kink. From the bend, the outer wings ran with a positive V-position and a strong backward sweep to the edge arch. At the kink itself, two protruding teardrop-shaped gondolas were attached, each containing a retractable nose wheel. The main landing gear had a central strut with two wheels and was pulled into the fuselage. The elevons were conventionally attached to the outer wing. The innermost area of the wing nose was not swept, this is where the air inlets should later be located. An aircraft was built and was to be equipped with two small Turboméca Marboré jet turbines . Initially, however, a test as a glider was planned. The project was abandoned when the glider floated far above the runway in the ground effect and then broke. Only one model of the wind tunnel has been preserved in the Aviation Museum in Belgrade .
