Belgrade Aviation Museum (2006)

The Belgrade Aviation Museum (formerly the Yugoslav Aviation Museum ) was founded in Surčin near Belgrade in 1957 and is located in the immediate vicinity of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport . The current building was designed by the Yugoslav architect Ivan Štraus from 1969 and opened on May 21, 1989. The building is considered an important testimony to Yugoslav architecture.

In 1975 the national airline of Yugoslavia, JAT, made a 4,800 m² site available for the construction of the museum . The museum owns over 200 aircraft, mostly from the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia .
