Ikutaro Kakehashi

Ikutarō Kakehashi ( Japanese梯 郁太郎, Kakehashi Ikutarō , born February 7, 1930 in Osaka , † April 1, 2017 ) was a Japanese entrepreneur . He was the founder of the Roland Corporation , a manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, sound technology and software .

Career

During the 1950s he repaired electronic organs and developed new prototypes . In 1954, Kakehashi opened a radio equipment shop, but continued to design electronic organs. In 1957 he began to sell these, which eventually led to the foundation of Ace Electronic Industries Inc. in 1960 due to the enormous demand . In 1964, after adding guitar amplifiers to his product range, Kakehashi presented the products in the United States . In 1968 there was a collaboration with the Hammond International Company , from which Hammond Japan emerged in the same year.

Kakehashi decided in 1972 to leave Ace Industries to start Roland . He was president there until 1995, before being replaced by Tadao Kikumoto as chairman of the board . In 2013 he left Roland.

In 2014 he founded Atelier Vision Corporation .
