The Ilôt de l'Échouage ( French for island of stranding ) is a rocky island in the Géologie archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located south of the Île du Marégraphe and in the immediate vicinity of Carrel Island in the southwest entrance to the Pedersen Canal .
French scientists named them. The reason for the naming is that they ran aground here during measurements.
