Ilú
Ilús are hand drums in Brazilian music that are used in the music of the Afro-Brazilian religion . In particular, they are played in the Batuque in southern Brazil (especially Rio Grande do Sul ) and in the Xangô cults in the northeast. It occurs in three different pitches and has the same functions as the atabaques in Candomblé .
In contrast to the barrel-shaped atabaques, ilús belong to the cylindrical tubular drums .
