Il Piccolo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Il Piccolo is an Italian daily newspaper based in Trieste .

The daily newspaper was founded by Teodoro Mayer in 1881 and was published for the first time on December 29 of the same year. Despite initial difficulties, the daily newspaper reached a remarkably high circulation at the end of the 19th century. Around 1900, the articles increasingly contained political issues, particularly reflecting the opinion of irredentism . The conception and ideology of the irredentist movement were thus passed on to layers with a lower level of education.

Politically, the newspaper today represents a moderate left-wing stance , has some high-quality journalism and, with a circulation of 40,000, is one of the most important newspapers in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region , but is practically only sold in the former province of Trieste .
