Illa Simmet

Illa Simmet (* in Bonn ) was a German painter from Munich.

life and work

Simmet was the daughter of a Rhenish engineering family. She was married to the lawyer Werner Simmet. The couple had a daughter and lived in Neuried near Munich.

In 1953/54 she exhibited in the Brücke in Bonn and Cologne.

She made reverse glass paintings, oil paintings, gouaches, graphics - rarely plastic in clay and metalwork. She was particularly interested in the design of large areas in the mural. Murals of various techniques can be found in Bonn, Cologne and Hanover.

On behalf of the city of Munich, a mural 9.50 × 3.20 m was completed for a school in Neuperlach in 1969 . Also on behalf of the city of Munich, she designed portraits for brochures and posters such as B. Carnival in Munich 1974 .
