Illescas is a town in Uruguay .
geography
It is located around 200 kilometers from Montevideo in the north-western part of the Lavalleja department in its sector 12 on the border with the neighboring Florida department , in which sector 6 there is also part of the village. The nearest major city is José Batlle y Ordóñez in the northeast. Illescas is located in the Cuchilla Grande southeast of the nearby Cerros de San Francisco . The source of the Arroyo San Francisco is located in the northeast of the town, at around kilometer 180 on Ruta 7 .
history
Illescas was built from 1891 around the local railway stop of the Nico Pérez line at the 204th kilometer. There was a public school in Illescas as early as the beginning of the 20th century.
Infrastructure
In Illescas there is a cemetery and a sacred building. Route 7 runs through the village .
Residents
The population of Illescas' at the 2011 census was 121, of which 38 (17 male and 21 female) were in Lavalleja and 83 (39/44) in Florida. At the previous census in 2004 the total number of 121 inhabitants (56 in the Lavallejan, 65 in the Floridan part) remained constant.
