The Illinois Route 131 (in short IL 131 ) is a state highway in the US state of Illinois , the north-south direction is in.
The State Route begins on Illinois State Route 176 in central Lake Bluff and ends 15 miles near Pleasant Prairie on the Wisconsin border. After the border, the road merges into Wisconsin State Route 31 .

The IL 131 exits Lake Bluff in a northerly direction parallel to US Highway 41 to the west and Illinois State Route 137 to the east. West of North Chicago , the State Route crosses the Greenbett Forest. It then passes Waukegan in the east and meets State Route 132 on Green Bay Road . North of the city, the road runs alongside Waukegan Regional Airport . To the west of the town of Zion which is State Route 173 crossed before the IL 131 ends after a total of 24 kilometers of the border with Wisconsin.
