The Illinois State Route 176 (in short IL 176 is) a State Route in the State of Illinois , the east-west direction is in.

The State Route begins on Illinois State Route 23 in Marengo and ends after 41 miles in Lake Bluff on Illinois State Route 131 .

The IL 176 leaves Marengo in an easterly direction and uses the State Route 47 north of the Crystal Woods Golf Club for about 1.5 kilometers . It meets US Highway 14 to the west of Crystal Lake and the Union Pacific / Northwest Line in the center . In the eastern part of the city, the road crosses Illinois State Route 31 . After crossing the Fox River , the IL 176 first passes Griswold Lake in the north and shortly afterwards Island Lake and Slocum Lake in the south . On the western outskirts of Wauconda , the road meets the route of US Highway 12 and Illinois State Route 59 and passes Bangs Lake in the north of the town .

After the intersection with State Routes 60 and 83 , the IL 176 reaches the city of Mundelein . In the center it first meets US Highway 45 and then crosses the North Central Service . In the center of the city of Libertyville , the road is crossed by the Illinois State Route 21 and crosses the Des Plaines River on the eastern outskirts . South of Green Oaks there is a junction with Interstate 94 , which in this section forms the Tri-States Tollway . In the west of the Shields Township , the IL 176 first meets State Route 43 and then US Highway 41 , before ending at Illinois State Route 131 after a total of 66 kilometers.

history

Illinois State Route 176 originally connected the cities of Crystal Lake and Lake Bluff. In 1940 the line was extended to Marengo, replacing Illinois State Route 67.
