The Ilmtalviadukt (or Viadukt Stadtilm ) is a single-track railway bridge on the Arnstadt – Saalfeld railway line in Thuringia .
On May 1, 1888, the Prussian House of Representatives decided to build the Arnstadt – Saalfeld railway line. The foundation stone of the viaduct was laid on December 3, 1891. The company Mestwarb & Greiner from Hanover was awarded the contract for the masonry construction. The construction time was about one and a half years, namely until June 28, 1893. The keystone was laid in the presence of the Princely Couple of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and other guests of honor. From April 1, 1894, the tracks were laid on the viaduct. It was opened to traffic on June 18 of the same year.
With a total length of 201.3 meters, a height of 18 meters and a total of 13 arches, the viaduct was one of the largest railway bridges of its time.
