history
Sweden established diplomatic relations with France in 1634.
The German-Scandinavian evangelical congregation, which was allowed to practice its religion due to the Edict of Tolerance of Nantes (1598), but since this was specifically forbidden for Paris, met on the extra-territorial site under the patronage of the embassy . In 1679 it became an official parish of the Swedish chapel, since 1711 the pastor was appointed by the Swedish king and maintained by the Swedish state. The successor to this pastorate is - together with the Danish chapel - today's German Evangelical Christ Church .

Headquarters of the Embassy (Sveriges ambassad Paris, Ambassade de Suède à Paris) today Rue Barbet-de-Jouy 17 (Paris, 7 e arrondissement).

Consulates are located in Bordeaux , Lille , Lyon , Marseille , Nantes , Nice , Porto Vecchio , Strasbourg , Toulouse and in Gustavia on Saint Barthélemy (Caribbean). The consulate in Monaco is also subordinate. Business Sweden and the Svenska institutet cultural office (Hôtel de Marle, rue Payenne) are also located at the embassy .
