Carl Gustaf Bielke (Kaarle Kustaa Bielke), (* July 12, 1683 , † February 11, 1754 ) was a Swedish count and son of Nils Bielke .

Life

After academic studies, he began to embark on a military career, which he finished as major general of the cavalry . In the war of Charles XII. he was mainly busy with the recruitment and training of troops. But he also played an important role in connection with the defense of Stockholm in 1719. In the same year he became diplomatic envoy in Paris.

In 1727 he became Landshövding in Västernorrlands län , where he campaigned, among other things, for the expansion of the country roads. During this time this country also included Gävleborgs län and Jämtland . After serving as Landhövding for twelve years, he became President of the Swedish State Office in 1739 . Bielke was also very committed to politics. During the period of freedom, he was a member of several Reichstag and member of the Möss party .

Among other things, he owned Salsta Castle near Vattholma , about 25 kilometers north of Uppsala in Uppland .

family

Carl Gustaf Bielke married Countess Brita Sofia Horn von Marienborg on April 25, 1705 in Stockholm (* April 6, 1679, † 1728 in Gävle ). She was a daughter of Admiral Lieutenant Gustav Horn von Marienborg (1651–1686) and Baroness Jakobina Catharina Lilliehöök (1658–1696). The marriage had seven children, only two of whom reached adulthood:

  • Nils (born January 17, 1706 in Stockholm, † June 12, 1765 in Rome )
  • Eva (born December 14, 1706 in Stockholm, † December 18, 1778 in Stockholm)
  • Christina Sigrid (born May 5, 1710 in Paris , † January 27, 1726 at Salsta Palace)
