In the realm of the wild animals (original title: Mutual of Omaha ’s Wild Kingdom ) is an American animal documentary that was created by Marlin Perkins in 1963. Perkins moderated the series until 1985, before he was replaced by his former co-host Jim Fowler. The series became very popular outside of the United States as well; it ran for the first time in 1973 on German television. Dubbing speakers for German television were Friedrich Schoenfelder and Thomas Danneberg .

The aim of the series was to bring the viewer closer to the life of wild animals. Documentations about animal species from all continents were filmed. Mainly from Africa and South America . Sometimes the shooting was therefore not entirely safe. B. free-living lions or gorillas were filmed.

The series was published in 2006 by the company Bci / Eclipse on 9 DVDs so far.
