In the realm of the golden dragon (Spanish: El reino del dragón de oro ) is the second volume of the youth book trilogy The City of the Wild Gods by Isabel Allende , published in 2003 by Hanser Verlag .

The novel tells the adventures of 16-year-old American boy Alexander Cold and Nadia Santos from the Amazon . On their second trip, they accompany Alexander's grandmother Kate Cold to the realm of the Golden Dragon, a small, peace-loving country in the mountains of the Himalayas . The country has a fabulous oracle, the golden dragon, a statue that only the king of the empire can and may question, as it gives its answers in encrypted form. An unscrupulous collector hires a well-organized gang of thieves to steal the sanctuary of the land. Alex and Nadia, together with the Buddhist Lama Tensing and the prince of the country, Dil Bahadur, try to prevent this robbery.
