The young Tanpopo (Japanese for dandelion) changes schools. From the province of Hokkaidō she went to the elite high school Meio-Gakuen in Tokyo. There she is often cursed as a "weed" by her classmates, who mainly come from respected families. Nevertheless, she does not lose heart and befriends her classmates Kouki Kugyou, Tsukiko Saionji and Aoi Kyougoku. She soon learns that Kouki's brother has been missing for two years and that Kouki has lived with his fiancé Erika Yanahara ever since. A competition breaks out between the two girls for Kouki's favor, which Erika wins with a kiss. Disappointed, Tanpopo has been avoiding her friends ever since. One evening, however, a young man stands in front of her door (it turns out: a new neighbor) who introduces himself as Kouki's missing brother. The brothers later make up a little. But Tanpopo agrees to go out with Kouki's brother. When Kouki notices that, he is jealous and so he behaves much nicer to his fiancée. However, he later decides to leave his fiancée, who then tries to kill herself. Tanpopo gets a call from her grandma and learns that her grandpa had a stroke and is now in a coma. She decides to stay there forever. In the end, they confess their love to each other and Kouki goes to university in Hokkaido.
