The Imagion AG is a company in the field of media production and one of the largest authoring studios in Europe. In 2006, the production company launched Elephants Dream , the first HD DVD on the German market.

history

Imagion AG was founded in 2000 as a strategic alliance of various companies from Trier and Trierweiler-Udelfangen , where the company's headquarters are still located today. In 2005, the start-up already had 45 permanent employees who together generated annual sales of around four million euros.

On August 14, 2006, the company produced Elephants Dream, the first HD DVD in Germany and Europe. A short time later, a music DVD in HD with the title Stage Fright by the British cult band Motörhead followed . This allowed European users to access certain online functions for the first time. For example, it was possible to add current tour dates for the musicians to the menu via a corresponding update. In addition, Imagion became known in the field of Blu-ray production “through its innovative design of the disc menu and bonus material”. Features that are now standard features such as Bonus View (Profile 1.1) or BD-Live (Profile 2.0) were first implemented in Germany by the company from Trierweiler. When Imagion released the world's first Blu-ray Disc with Bonus View with the German comedy Neues vom Wixxer in December 2007 , its additional functions were not yet supported by the players available in Germany, as the corresponding specifications made higher demands on local storage and secondary storage Audio and video decoders required. In 2010, the company also produced the first 3D Blu-ray in Europe.

According to its own information, Imagion AG has published over 10,000 DVD , Blu-ray and digital projects to date . In the field of video-on-demand , the company works u. a. with the streaming service provider Netflix .
