Imbassaí , officially in Portuguese Distrito de Imbassaí , is a district of Mata de São João in the Brazilian state of Bahia in Brazil .

The town of Imbassaí, seat of the district, is part of the tourist zone of the Costa dos Coqueiros and can be easily reached via the Linha Verde road , part of the BA-099 national road , and is located about 80 km north of Salvador city center and 10 km north of the tourist town of Praia do Forte away. It has developed from an Indian village to a tourist center on this coast.

On the beach side of Imbassaí, the Praia de Imbassaí , there is a jungle-like ambience with many pousadas and restaurants.

Since the Imbassaí river of the same name flows into the sea at this point , the sea beaches are located on an offshore beach island, which is connected to the place by bridges. Beach bars are not only located on the beach, but also on small islands that can be reached by crossing the calm river.
