Imhotep was an ancient Egyptian vizier who reigned under King Thutmose I at the beginning of the 18th dynasty .
Little is known about his person. A simple shaft grave in the Valley of the Queens ( QV46 ) is attributed to him, as parts of a grave equipment, such as canopic jars with his name, were found there. This Imhotep appears on a scarab and is named in the mortuary temple of Wadjmes . In the grave of Userhat ( TT51 ), which dates to the beginning of the 19th dynasty , he is depicted together with the high priest of Amun Hapuseneb . Hapuseneb is known as the son of Imhotep. Since Hapuseneb's father is known from sources other than Hapu, Imhotep is more likely to have been the grandfather.
