Imi-chet-Sopdet , the ancient Egyptian dean star G , is the name of Prokyon ( α Canis Minor ). Since Imi-chet-Sopdet culminates 10 days after Sopdet and 20 days after Tepi-a-Sopdet , he was named the successor of Sopdet , although Prokyon rises before Sirius . In ancient times it was considered a "related arrow star of Sirius" outside of ancient Egypt.
