Immanuel Brockhaus

Immanuel Brockhaus (* 1960 ) is a German musicologist , producer and author .

Immanuel Brockhaus studied jazz in Bern from 1982 to 1986. Then he was a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Freiburg i. B. and at the Jazz and Rock School Freiburg. Since 1991 he has been a lecturer at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB) . He was involved in theater music productions in Warsaw, Stockholm and Bern.

In 2001 he set up the "Music and Media Art" course at the HKB. Since 2003 Brockhaus has been director of the Masters "Pop & Rock" at the HKB Bern. In 2013 he completed his master's degree in "Research on the Arts" at his university and received his doctorate in 2016 from the University of Bern / Bern University of the Arts. In his doctorate, Brockhaus analyzed and isolated recurring sound elements in pop music and researched their origins. This work resulted in his book "Kultsounds".

Brockhaus published numerous CDs with his own compositions. He took part in the Biennale in Bern with projects . At the HKB he teaches piano, "electronic keyboard instruments" (keyboard and synthesizer ), music theory, pop culture, music technology and ensembles.
