Impregnable Island (from English impregnable , 'invincible' ) is an unusually high and steep-walled island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It belongs to the Rauer Islands and is 3.5 km north of Filla Island .
Australian scientists named them. It is named after the fact that participants in three campaigns of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions between 1983 and 1988 did not succeed in landing on the island.
