Imprimatur GmbH

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The imprimatur GmbH was a German company about the Carl Bosch of CEO IG Farben , the Frankfurter Zeitung after 1930 supported financially. The renowned newspaper was in financial distress and made heavy losses. Bosch was able to support the newspaper through the imprimatur without appearing.

The Imprimatur was founded in 1900 by Rudolf and Hermann Ullstein . They sold the company to two investors in 1924 , one of whom was Hermann Hummel , a supervisory board member of IG Farben, who was Imprimatur's sole shareholder from 1930.

The following contract was signed on April 29, 1929 between the Simon-Sonnemann family, who owned the Frankfurter Zeitung, Bosch and Hummel, Bosch's close confidante: Imprimatur takes over 48 percent of the share capital of two million Reichsmarks in Frankfurter Societäts -Druckerei GmbH, where the Frankfurter Zeitung appears. The Simon-Sonnemann family retains 51 percent. Hummel joined the supervisory board of the Frankfurt Societäts-Druckerei in June 1929.

On April 29, 1929, the FZ wrote on its own behalf: “In order to make the 'Frankfurter Zeitung' independent of the shareholdings of individual persons and independent of the coincidences that could occur through inheritance or the like, the plan is to invest in a foundation or a body of a similar character. "

Neither in the supervisory board of the Societäts-Druckerei nor in the executive board of IG Farben was the support known in all details. Bosch presumably had an IG Farben fund at his disposal, from which he compensated for the losses of the Societäts-Druckerei.

After the war, Imprimatur GmbH was converted into a foundation, which merged with the Fazit Foundation in 1989 .
