The Indian half-breed is a warm-blooded animal . His character can be described as good-natured. It has a noble head, sometimes sickle-shaped ears, sloping shoulders, a deep chest and a straight back, as well as a well-shaped hindquarters and strong legs.

history

The breed originated from a cross between the Indian Kathiawari and the Australian Waler with admixture of Arabs and thoroughbreds . It was specifically bred as a cavalry horse in military studs. The Indian half-breed gets along well with the hot and barren Indian landscape and is both hardened and economical in keeping. Because of its foreign ancestry, it is larger and more noble than other native breeds. In the past it was used as the main means of transport for the Indian army and is still used today as riding horses and pack animals for the few remaining mounted companies. In many regions, especially rural ones, it is used by the mounted police. It is used for civilian purposes as a riding horse at competitions because it is clever and docile.
