The Indrapuri barrage (sometimes also called the Sone barrage ) is located on the lower reaches of the Son in northern central India .
The barrage is located 10 km south of the city of Dehri in the Rohtas district in the southwest of the state of Bihar . The construction of the barrage started in 1960 and was completed in 1968. The river Son flows another 130 km in a north-northeast direction before it flows into the Ganges west of Patna .
The barrage is used for irrigation . An irrigation canal branches off on both banks.
The barrier structure has a length of 1407 m. It is the fourth longest barrage in the world (as of 2016).
