Industriebahn AG

The industry Bahn AG , based in Frankfurt am Main , Moselstraße 2 was the owner of exclusively serving the freight, as originally Kleinbahnen operated railway lines . It was founded on November 23, 1899 by the Deutsche Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (DEAG) with a share capital of 840,000 marks .

Initially, it only owned the Beuel – Großenbusch small railway serving goods traffic , the 6.3 km long route of which was opened on December 28, 1900. This has belonged to the city of Bonn since 1994 and is leased and operated by Rhein-Sieg-Eisenbahn GmbH .

In addition, the Industriebahn AG acquired the Höxtersche Kleinbahn in 1901, which was built and operated by the AG for Railway Construction and Operation (BBB). This 3.4 km long line was also only used for freight traffic, from April 28, 1899 until it was closed at the end of 1932.

The third line was the Kaldenkirchen – Brüggen small line (12.5 km), which was opened on February 19, 1902 by the Continentalen Eisenbahn-Bau- und Betriebs-Gesellschaft (CEB) and ran from 1904 to 1920 was also used by passenger trains. It was operated in freight traffic until March 31, 1996.

The CEB merged with the BBB in 1914, which from 1929 operated as the Deutsche Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (DEGA or DEG). The major shareholder since 1929 was almost 100% the AG for Transport (AGV). In 1936, Industriebahn AG had a share capital of 1 million Reichsmarks , and DEGA ran the business. In 1964 the Industriebahn AG was converted into a GmbH . It was later split up; In 1993 the two railways operated as Industriebahn Beuel GmbH and Industriebahn Kaldenkirchen GmbH. DEG continued to run the business.
