Ivry – Charenton industrial bridge

The industrial bridge Ivry-Charenton ( French Passerelle industrial d'Ivry-Charenton ) is a bridge that connects high-voltage lines and a district heating line from the thermal power station of the CPCU - Compagnie Parisienne de Chauffage Urbain in Ivry-sur-Seine over the Seine to Charenton-le-Pont in the Val-de-Marne department immediately south of Paris . For pedestrians there are sidewalks built on the outside of the bridge; Cyclists can access the sidewalk on the upstream side via ramps.

description

The bridge is a rare example of a truss bridge made entirely of reinforced concrete - cantilever bridge with a suspension girder , i.e. a tanner girder bridge , which otherwise only appears as iron or steel bridges.

It is a total of 214.26 m long and 5.60 m wide; there are also two 2 m wide sidewalks. The main opening has a pillar spacing of 134.63 m, the left field is 47.32 m and the right field is 32.30 m wide. The two pylons that support the bridge are 24.50 m high, calculated from the pillar bases in the water. The two bunker-like towers at the outer ends of the bridge serve as a counterweight and hold-down against the weight of the main span. A six-cell hollow box made of concrete is provided for the electrical lines. A district heating pipe was placed openly on the box.

It is considered to be the reinforced concrete bridge with the largest span .

history

In 1926, the Paris Railroad and four electricity companies decided to build a bridge for their electrical lines. The tender was won by the Société générale d'entreprises with the cantilever bridge by a large margin. The construction work lasted from 1926 to 1930.
