Inemuri

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Inemuri ( Japanese 居 眠 り "to be present and sleep") is the usual public form of nap in Japan . It is not uncommon in Japan to “sleep” during a conference, a break or on the train. However, this type of sleep is so shallow that you can still perceive your surroundings enough to get off at the right stop, for example.

The word Inemuri is made up of i [ru] ( 居 [る] "to be present") and nemuri ( 眠 り "sleep").
